Weeks 1 - 12: Introduction to Respiratory Physiology

Topics: Overview of respiratory physiology, anatomical structure of the respiratory system, respiratory terminology, pleura, pressure changes, oxygen and carbon dioxide transport.

Weeks 1 - 12: Control of Respiration

Topics: Neural and chemical control of breathing, respiratory centers in the brainstem, hypercapnia, diving, interpretation of results.

Topics: Obstructive lung diseases, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), chest wall disorders, allergens, course review.
