Neena Din has an extensive background in academia, with a particular focus on student success. She has always been a strong advocate for ensuring students are provided with the support they need to develop the skills and tools required to pursue their interests in the STEM fields.
Neena earned her BSc in Microbiology at University College in London and her MSc and PhD degrees in Microbiology from the University of British Columbia, Vancouver. She also holds a Post Graduate Certificate in Education from University College, London, UK. She was a Post-Doctoral Fellow/part-time Assistant Professor at Indiana University before being appointed as an Assistant Professor at Loyola University and earning tenure there as an Associate Professor of Biology. She has taught undergraduate courses in Cell and Molecular Biology, Microbiology and Recombinant DNA Technology and carried out research on the processes of cell cycle and cell division events in bacteria.
Her research has been published in several prestigious journals including the Proceedings of the National Academy of Science, and her excellence in teaching has been recognized through nominations of teaching awards at Loyola University. Neena brought this teaching and research experience, along with her extensive advising background to her position of Associate Dean in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of San Diego. Her responsibilities there included overseeing student academic services and student retention initiatives, and supporting faculty and staff in the development of new programs to support academic success of students at the University.
